I have been technically unemployed for over six months, I was self employed but the parasites known as the HMRC decided that my earnings were too low for me to be entitled to that benefit so they forced me to claim universal credit. Universal credit expect you to look for work 35 hours a week and pay me one payment of 566 per month that has to cover rent, electric, council tax and so on. This is an attempt to force people in to labour and forced labour is slavery!
But forcing people in to work is not straight forward enough for our government, they also make it a pain in the arse to work. I have not worked on a building site for about seven years and I have noticed a huge change in qualifications needed and expected just to start a job. When I was on site we needed a CSCS card and nothing else and the test was a simple test just common sense really. Nowadays the CSCS test is tricky fire extinguishers, working from height regs and all sorts come up. I can pass the test on a practice but it has took a fair few weeks to get there.
I know plasterers that can’t read or write so a test like this for them must be a nightmare. One plasterer I know failed it three times at a cost of about £60 a time. I also notice that lots of plastering jobs are now asking for a NVQ in plastering! What the fuck is that? I have fifteen years experience of site and domestic work and can and have done nearly every aspect of plastering going but I do not have a NVQ.
Unlike that pencil sucking never been on a building site kid.
An old work mate always told me that these “qualifications” lead to unqualified people with no experience looking better on paper than somebody with tons of experience and he is right.
Upon revising the CSCS test I noticed that the whole “test” is an attempt to free themselves of blame and responsibility later if they need to.
According to one answer on the test it is up to your employer to provide food for you! Well I never knew take advantage of that one.
